How long have you been thinking about booking
a family photo session?
Is it just one of those ‘to do’ list items that never gets checked off, right?
Some of my clients told me that it’s since few months (or even years) that they’ve been thinking about booking a family photo session before they finally manage to do it.
The reason that got them to finally go ahead is usually a child going abroad for studies, a parent going on a long trip abroad or something like that. It is usually a turning point in their lives when they decide that it is 'now or never'!
After the session when they see the lovely portraits of the family, there's always this lingering regret that they should have got more family photos done, every year perhaps or once a couple of years, that's totally understandable.

It is the feeling you could avoid easily but these 3 common excuses play the spoil sport. Being aware of these excuses you are likely to make, you can work around them and do what's important (but not urgent) and avoid the feeling of regret.
Lets dive right in and see what these excuses are!
Excuse No. 1 - The photos will come out better if you wait until the house is redecorated or if you or your spouse could lose some weight
Really? How long will you keep telling yourself that the time is not right?
Wait, let me guess, FOREVER!!

The timing is never going to be right for a perfectionist! You seek perfect time for photos and it always eludes you like a mirage. Do you know why? The perfect time is NOW. (Actually there's no particular perfect time, anytime is good time).
Meanwhile your kids are growing up, quietly, every day. You can't turn the clock back and ask your 7 year old to become her 3 year old self again. That is not happening. The best time to get your family portrait done was 4 years back. The next best is TODAY! If you keep putting it off, this 2nd best time will also slip away and you will have to settle for 25th best time, haha!
Tip: Get a portrait done today as-is and if and when your house is refurbished, if and when your lose weight or whatever you are expecting/planning to do, get another portrait done. You have before and after, you lose nothing!
Excuse No. 2 - What’s the need for booking a family photo session, when you can take a ton of photos of your kids on your phone, right?
How much would you pay if only someone offers to get you your childhood photos you never knew existed?
Would you say, "I don't need them, too expensive!" I don't think so!
Family photos are an investment you must not avoid or you will only feel regret. The photos you take as an amateur are not going to be as good as those taken by us, professionals. Check out the gallery if you still are in doubt.

You can take so many photos on your phone, but you are never in them!
Do you ever get to actually printing any of them?
Do you at least browse through them?
Are your photos as good as professional family portraits?
Imagine having a nice family portrait or several of them hanging on your living room wall!
How does watching the family photos on your phone compare to that?
Tip: By all means shoot as many photos on your phone as you can also have a family photo taken by a professional once in a year or two. Even if your data is lost somehow, you will still have valuable memories hanging on the wall, you got nothing to lose, you will definitely have no regrets!
Excuse No. 3 - You have no free time – for booking a photographer and planning a family photo session, let alone for the photo session itself.

Really? How about the time you spend watching IPL day after day?
What about the time you wasted binge watching your favorite TV series? Game of Thrones?
The thing with life is, you will never find time for things that REALLY matter!
You will have to make time!
Things that are really important are rarely urgent!!
Finding a photographer can be overwhelming.
Planning a photo session and getting it done takes time and effort away from your day to day activities. Grown up kids or adolescents will have their own objections and excuses for participating in the shoot. But remember, that is how life is for everyone!
These obstacles are always going to be there and they will stop you from taking a day off and relishing your time with your family unless you take the leap.
Tip: This is an easy one! Just contact me and I will help you plan the shoot, help you decide what to wear, preparation tips etc. I will hand hold you through the process and give you a printed and framed family photo in no time while you go about your life and work. It is easy and doesn't take as much time as you think it would. It'd be worth it too!
These are just a sample of many, many excuses you know. People can get very creative in inventing reasons (excuses) why something can't be done today, now. But family photos are something you can't postpone or put off for later because with each day your kids are growing and they are not going to be the same next month. Even if you are just a couple, today will pass by and tomorrow is a different day.
Don't wait for tomorrow or later because time waits for no one! Let me help you with this...

Art Prints
What are art prints?
Art Prints also known as giclée printing, are high-quality prints. Unlike cheap prints on photographic paper, Art Prints depict rich details, colors, and nuances to the highest degree possible.
The exceptional quality of art prints comes from the rich colors and sharp details of the print to the paper or canvas it's printed on, and even the inks used in the printing process. These prints are done on high-grade, acid-free paper (also known as cotton rag) or canvas made by Hahnemühle FineArt paper or Felix Schoeller (both German companies making top quality cotton rag). This ensures the print's longevity and resistance to fading over time. The inks used are usually pigment-based archival inks, which are known for their color fastness and durability.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, absolutely! Many customers of 10K Portraits availed this service to their delight. It is not easy to plan and coordinate for a separate family portrait session. This gets postponed often, for several years in some cases and meanwhile kids grow up every day and a valuable opportunity to capture memories of family slip away.
At your home
It is a great idea to get a family portrait done in the same session as your headshot / portrait session especially if you are getting this done at your home.
Outdoors
If you are getting your headshots taken outdoors, you can bring your family members along for a beautiful outdoor family portrait.
At your office
However if you are getting the headshots taken at your office, a separate session for your family can be planned. Pricing is going to be different - please check the details given above.
Yes, you can order prints of family photos in different sizes. I encourage going for prints for family photos.
Family photos refer to an informal, candid, reportage style of photos taken while you and your family members are interacting, playing or engaged in an activity. These photos capture the dynamic of your relationships. These are captured without a backdrop.
Family portraits are shot with you and your family members looking into the camera. These are more formal than the family photos and traditional as well. You can opt for a backdrop for these photos.
Yes, we can. A separate session can be planned if any of your family members are indisposed while you are getting headshots done.
Absolutely it is possible. While headshots are typically taken with a solid backdrop, you can opt for ambient backdrop of your living room or drawing room for the family portrait. When I am at your place, I can recce it to scout for suitable locations for family portraits. I am happy work with you to plan and give you memorable family portraits.
Indoors with or without a backdrop or outdoors or both. It is entirely up to you. Let us talk and plan what would be best for your family. It depends on what you would like the photographs to look like.
Sessions usually take around 60-90 minutes, although I always suggest you allow 2 hours just so that we don’t feel rushed. I’m happy to be flexible and work around your family, so we can stop for snacks and breaks, etc.
Please refer to the packages given under pricing for the details.
I want the whole session to be fun for them, and it really doesn’t matter whether they ‘behave’ or not. There really is no pressure on them, and hopefully they’ll just be enjoying themselves. If they really aren’t happy at any point, then I’m always happy to take a break, or change what we are doing. I’ve photographed so many families over the years, I promise you nothing will faze me, so please don’t worry at all.
I’ll always get in touch with you a few days before your session to finalize details. This is also a good time to check the forecast. If the weather is not suitable, I’m always happy to rearrange the session. The weather can make a huge difference to the photographs, so I’d usually recommend waiting for a better day. Or you are very welcome to go ahead with raincoats if you are feeling brave!
It’s no problem at all to reschedule the session if any of you are unwell.
