How Do You Want to Look?

This questions pops as soon as you decide to get your portraits shoot done. How you are going to prepare, what persona do you want to project in your portraits, what you want others to see in your portrait and consequently what you are going to wear and how you are going to groom, while these are somewhat important questions to consider, there are more important questions that don't become immediately apparent.

How much do you want your photos edited? Irrespective of how people want to look, they give in when it is time answer this question... "remove the blemishes, make my skin look smoother, fairer, my lips pinker, my teeth whiter, remove those creases, dark circles, make me look younger, slimmer..." you get the drift.

Would you want to look like you are made out of porcelain, wax doll like - skin totally blemish free, smooth like a Barbie? (it's not a rhetorical question, some people do really want to look like that - it is their turn, it is time to prove to everyone that I can look awesome too albeit unrealistic...or so it seems).

However it all gets down to this: "Do you really want to look unrealistically better than how you are now?" Answer to this question can be difficult but it is important to ask and seek honest answers. Each of us have our own answers - none better than the other.
